The Etching Process

You’ll need:

  • The etching machine
TIP: You could make your own etching maschine...
Use some old glass the glazier, glue them together with acryl. The air-pump and the heating rod is available in fishing shops and are used in aquarias.
  • Protection clothes!!!
Old shirts, pants, a cap to protect your head when you are etching in closed rooms without aeration and gloves!
  • Etch-Sulfat
    Be very careful with this!!!
  • Water
TIP: The water must have a temperure at 50°
Use hot water directly from the water conduit. Then you can start directly with the etching process

My etching machine. Costs around 100€

Aha. 50°. Nice.

The pcbs inside the etching machine.

Oh. Is it magic? The copper slowly vanishes after 3-5 minutes.

Ready ;-) Wash away the etchfluid with water and the gloves on!

The residual photoresist must be removed now! Maybe you can’t see it, but it is still there!
You can either ise thinner to remove it or lay it down in the expose fluid again.

In the end you can spray protectin lacquer on the pcbs. Then it is durable and better to solder up.
